The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center Group welcomes Volvo Ocean Race
When the Volvo Ocean Race finale takes place in Gothenburg June 21-28th, the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center is there to greet all sailors, crews, sponsors and visitors. A 7,000 square meter fair will be organized and three restaurants from Gothia Towers, the congress center’s hotel business, will be serving everything from champagne and shrimp sandwiches to hot dogs. Approximately 350,000 visits will be made during the event.
It’s a great honor for us to work on this very public and professional event. A global event like this gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase our offerings and meet a number of interesting target groups, says Carin Kindbom, CEO of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center, which includes Gothia Towers.
The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center and Gothia Towers are main partners for the Volvo Ocean Race finish, a partnership that entails operation and responsibility for the exhibition area adjacent to the finish line in the heart of Gothenburg. The event area, Race Village, is open to all and admission is free every day of the event. Stage entertainment and activities will be arranged for both children and adults by designated partners to the Volvo Ocean Race.
Approximately 350 000 visits will be made during the event. Among the visitors are sponsors, media, sailors, crews, fans, tourists and locals. The exhibition area, located at a pier in the middle of the city, will consist of several different pavilions, restaurants and event spaces. Various events are to be organized for both private and public purposes.
The fair, Welcome Home Expo, has its focus and main emphasis on the home, housing types and associated product ranges. Mobile houses, garden tools and supplies, home furnishing and design are just some examples of what will be on display. In addition, a program of seminars will be held to facilitate meetings and inspiration.
